Pride In Community

Our mission as the Arvada West Wildcat Pride marching band is to give our student’s the best high school experience possible. We strive to give our students the tools and skills to succeed in life, giving them support and community like no other program can.

Here are a few things we want you to know about marching band before the season begins!

Join SportsYou!

We will be using the SportsYou platform to communicate and organize this year. Both students and families should join this group, setting your role to “player” or “family.” It contains the marching band-specific calendar, workgroups, and section chats for all marching band activities. If students don't have a smartphone, they should join using their Jeffco Chromebook. To join, download the SportsYou app from your phone’s app store, create an account, and then use Team Access code F4B8-4AWL.

Parents Welcome

The Wildcat Pride relies on parent support. The Instrumental Music Boosters provide fundraising & manpower support to the WcP. Please join us for Booster meetings throughout the year, and volunteer to help at band events. From selling frozen yogurt, to pushing a xylophone onto the field, there are a variety of ways to support your kids. Booster meetings typically happen on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Absences

Mr. Moore is not unsympathetic to the amount of time the WcP takes. Despite that, it is crucial that everyone is at every rehearsal as much as possible. We don’t have alternates and absences have a direct effect on those in the rehearsal.

Our band handbook states “absences should be extremely important and completely unavoidable.”

How Much Does Marching Band Cost?

The Instrumental Music Boosters ask each member of the Wildcat Pride to pay $300 and JeffCo asks each member to separately pay $100 for the season. This covers uniform maintenance, show design and development, food, transportation, and many other goods and services a marching band requires. Payments to the boosters can be made via Square using the links on the website (WiP), Venmo to @awestmusicboosters, cash, or cheques to AWest IM Boosters and payments to JeffCo can be made via a student account. The payment schedule will be on the calendar in sportsYou. Financial reports are available at any Booster meeting.

    Registration for the fall is open from mid-April until the end of May each year. Any current AWest student or current 8th grader is welcome to participate. Contact Mr. Moore for more details.

    This is a necessary part of the registration process. If you have not completed the school registration process please do so immediately if you or your child are planned/planning to be in Marching Band.
